Julian Edelman's roller-coaster offseason is back on the right track.

The New England Patriots wide receiver lost his trusty quarterback in March when Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency.

But Edelman now has another former NFL MVP on board in Cam Newton, whom the Patriots reportedly signed to a one-year contract Sunday.

Edelman even tried his hand at the funky font Newton uses in his social media posts, a sign he's ready to work with the 31-year-old QB in New England.

Patriots wide receiver Mohamed Sanu approved of Edelman's post, dropping a pair of eye emojis in the comment section.

Newton and Edelman both enter 2020 with chips on their shoulders: The former is eager to prove he's still elite after missing 16 games over the last two seasons due to shoulder and foot injuries, while the latter is determined to show the NFL world he's not just a product of Brady's success.

When the QB and receiver meet in person remains to be seen. But it'd be fitting if they linked up in Newton, Mass., as Newton joins a surprisingly long list of Boston athletes named after Massachusetts suburbs. (Tim Wakefield, Mike Lowell, Fred Lynn, Carl Everett, Rick Middleton, Matt Chatham, Quincy Adeboyejo ... you get the picture.)
