Devin McCourty is the New England Patrots' nominee for the 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, and for good reason.

The prestigious award honors a player's volunteer and charity work, as well as their excellence on the field. McCourty is involved in several charitable causes including the Innocence Project, Chromebooks for Kids, Tackle Sickle Cell and much more.

The veteran defensive back has been a Patriots captain for each of the last 10 seasons and one of their best defensive players since joining the team in 2010.

Julian Edelman doesn't want his teammate's efforts to go unnoticed. The wide receiver took to Twitter on Wednesday to endorse McCourty for the award.

"Since the day he stepped into the locker room DMac has led by example. He works hard to make his teammates, family, friends and the community around him better, every single day. #McCourty #WPMOYChallenge," Edelman wrote.

The 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year will be announced during the NFL Honors award special, which is set to air the week of Super Bowl LV. McCourty is looking to become the first Patriots player ever to win the award.
