Edelman trolls Darnold as QB's nightmares against Pats continue

If Sam Darnold was granted one wish, it would probably be to never play the New England Patriots again.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback entered Sunday's game with a brutal track record against New England: one touchdown pass and six interceptions in three losses to the Patriots as a member of the New York Jets.

That track record went from bad to worse Sunday in Carolina, as Darnold threw three more interceptions against the Patriots, including a pick-six to J.C. Jackson in the third quarter.

After Darnold's third interception of the day, former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman trolled the QB on Twitter by bringing back an old joke.

That's a reference to Darnold famously admitting he was "seeing ghosts" on the field while mic'd up during a Jets blowout loss to the Patriots in 2019. Darnold completed just 11 passes with four interceptions in New York's 33-0 defeat.

Darnold clearly will never live that moment down -- especially if New England continues to haunt him. Here were Darnold's updated stats against the Patriots in four matchups after that third pick: 62 for 119 (52.1%), 657 yards, one touchdown pass, nine interceptions and a 39.8 passer rating.

That's fright-worthy.
