Kraft family, Patriots thank Tom Brady with special billboard tributes

However things ended between Tom Brady and the New England Patriots privately, the team is saying all the right things publicly.

Shortly after Brady announced he's leaving the Patriots in free agency (and reportedly signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), the team paid tribute to the quarterback via an electric billboard just outside Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, there's a total of 12 of these billboards displayed throughout New England honoring the GOAT.

"Thank you Tom, the greatest of all time!" the billboard reads. "With love, the Kraft family and the New England Patriots."

This is the modern equivalent of team owner Robert Kraft and president Jonathan Kraft taking out an ad in the local paper (that might be coming, too), to show love the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick also delivered glowing statements about Brady earlier this week, as the Patriots have made sure to let the 42-year-old know they appreciate his contributions over two decades in New England.

Alas, the Patriots seemingly didn't appreciate Brady enough to convince him to stay, which is why the greatest quarterback of all time will be suiting up in red and pewter next season.
