Malcom Brown back on the field as Patriots resume practice

FOXBORO -- The Patriots had Malcom Brown back on the field Tuesday after Brown was forced from last Thursday's game with the Colts due to a knee injury.

The Patriots took the fields behind Gillette Stadium for the first time this week as they prepare for Kansas City, and all players were present. Defensive end John Simon, who also suffered an injury against Indy, was present as well.

Brown has had an up-and-down season with his best game coming against the Dolphins at home in Week 4. He's played a total of 147 snaps after seeing a season-low 21 before getting hurt last week. He's part of the top-three in a rotation that includes Lawrence Guy and Danny Shelton. He's started all five games for the Patriots.

In a week where there will be a great deal of focus on the Patriots front, particularly how they keep Patrick Mahomes corralled in the pocket on Sunday night, Brown would help Bill Belichick's group with its push up the middle, limiting the space for Mahomes to step up and extend plays.

It'd be preferable for the Patriots to have all hands on deck for the test Kansas City's offense will present. The fact that Brown is on the field more than five full days before kickoff is a sign they might.
