Must-read recap: Pats run roughshod over Jets at MetLife

Share

The Patriots ran all over the Jets, and even though it was a tie game in the second half, they pulled away with a 27-13 victory at Met Life Stadium. It was a day in which the passing wasn't great, so the running did the job with 216 rushing yards as a team.

We'll do two of these and start with the positive one: How Gronk is BACK.

"Gronk" and "back" are often said in the same sentence because of his actual back, but Rob Gronkowski scored a 34-yard touchdown on a nice catch during the Pats' second drive. Tom Brady threw to Gronkowski a lot in the red zone but couldn't always connect. Speaking of which....

Yeah, this will probably be the bigger one: Brady didn't look great Sunday.

Brady, who missed Friday's practice and was questionable for Sunday's game with a knee injury and illness, had some bad misses Sunday, including a deep ball that should have been picked. He also received treatment on his thumb during the second quarter, which may have had something to do with it.

The numbers looked better than some of his passes. Brady finished 21-of-30 for 283 yards with two touchdowns and no picks.

Michel was very good when he was in the game, finishing with 21 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown. He suffered an apparent back injury in the third quarter, but returned and had some key runs in the fourth quarter, including the aforementioned TD.

Tom Brady doubled his passing touchdowns over the previous month... by throwing two touchdowns.

On hold for now. Brown got called for a hold that negated a 25-yard Sony Michel run.
