New Patriots kicker Justin Rohrwasser told the media on a conference call Saturday that he'll cover the tattoo on his left arm that caused some controversy on social media after his selection by New England with the 159th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Rohrwasser, 21, from Clifton Park, N.Y., kicked at Marshall the past two years after transferring from Rhode Island. He has a symbol of the Three Percenters (sometimes written with the numeral 3 or Roman numeral III) tattooed on his left arm.
The Three Percenters have been identified as a far-right paramilitary and militia group. Three Percent refers to the percentage of American colonists who sought independence from England in the Revolutionary War.
Rohrwasser, when asked about it on the conference call, said when he got the tattoo he thought it was a symbol that represented support for the military.

“I got that tattoo when I was a teenager," he said. "I had a lot of family in the military, and I thought it stood for a military support symbol at the time. Obviously, it evolved into something that I did not want to represent. When I look back on it, I should have done way more research before I put any mark or symbol like that on my body. It’s not something I want to represent. So, it will be covered.”
