NFL odds: Here's where Tom Brady stands in latest MVP betting lines

Tom Brady has led the New England Patriots to a perfect 5-0 record to start the season, but oddsmakers aren't high on the 42-year-old quarterback's chances of winning the 2019 AP NFL MVP award.

Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has updated its MVP betting lines entering Week 6, and Brady is tied with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson with the third-best odds at 9-1.

Brady's stats have been quite impressive through five games. He's completing 63.1 percent of his passes for 1,409 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. Despite these strong numbers, it makes sense that he's not among the top two betting favorites for MVP.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who won this award last season, leads the league in passing yards and ranks tied for second in passing touchdowns. He's also thrown zero interceptions and is completing 65.6 percent of his passes in leading the Chiefs to a 4-1 record. Mahomes' stellar play has helped the Chiefs overcome an average rushing attack and a shaky defense.

The best bets on the board probably are Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey.

Wilson leads the league with 12 touchdown passes and has a sparkling 73.1 completion percentage. He also hasn't thrown an interception and is the primary reason why Seattle is 4-1. McCaffrey has carried the Panthers offense in the absence of injured quarterback Cam Newton. The third-year running back leads the league in rushing yards and is tied for second in rushing touchdowns. He's also made a difference in the passing attack, tallying 31 receptions for 279 yards and one touchdown.

There's still a long way to go before the MVP race is decided, but if you like any of these players listed not named Mahomes, the time to wager on them is probably sooner rather than later.
