Emmanuel Ogbah is reading the writing on the wall in Cleveland, it appears.
The Browns defensive end didn't report to the team's offseason program Monday because he anticipates being traded in the "near future," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday morning, citing a source.
Ogbah's future in Cleveland appeared in doubt after the Browns traded for Olivier Vernon in mid-March, pairing the All-Pro pass rusher with defensive end Myles Garrett.
But the 25-year-old former 32nd overall pick should garner interest on the open market, especially from a team like the New England Patriots, which still could use an edge rusher after losing Trey Flowers and Adrian Clayborn to free agency.
While Ogbah recorded a career-low three sacks in 2018, he's still a solid edge-setter in the run game and could benefit from a change of scenery under head coach Bill Belichick, who's completed multiple trades with the Cleveland Browns over the years.
Ogbah also is set to make $1.35 million in 2019 with a $2.1 million cap hit, so he would be a relatively low-cost addition with decent upside if the Patriots have interest.
