NFL Rumors: Dolphins trade Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers

NFL Rumors: Dolphins trade Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers

The Miami Dolphins have reportedly traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Pittsburgh Steelers, ending any chance the Patriots had to secure their division rival's young star.

The Steelers will send their 2020 first round pick to the Dolphins for Fitzpatrick, giving Miami three first round picks and six total selections in the first three rounds of the upcoming draft.

Fitzpatrick, a versatile safety with experience playing both safety spots along with slot and outside corner, will help a Steelers secondary that was completely obliterated by the Patriots in Week 1. Ben Roethlisberger is out for the rest of the season, so it will be up to Mason Rudolph to lead the Steeler offense after their defense gets a major upgrade.

This also takes a potential trade off the table for the Patriots. Our own Phil Perry outlined why it would have made a ton of sense for the Patriots to try and pry Fitzpatrick away from Miami, but it appears the Dolphins will deal their first round selection from 2018 to one of New England's rivals.

Jalen Ramsey requested a trade from the Jaguars on Monday, so if the Patriots are willing to give up a first round pick for some help in the secondary, there's still an elite option out there. However, New England's corner group has been exceptional during the first two weeks of 2019.

NFL Rumors: If traded, Emmanuel Sanders wants to go to a winning team

NFL Rumors: If traded, Emmanuel Sanders wants to go to a winning team

If he's indeed traded before the October 29 trade deadline, Emmanuel Sanders would like to go to a winning team, according to Vic Lombardi.

Luckily for Sanders, the Patriots are undefeated and could use a true outside receiving threat to best construct an offense that can appropriately compliment New England's league-best defense.

We'll find out just how interested the Patriots are in acquiring Sanders via trade, but as of now, they're the betting favorites to land the wide receiver, just ahead of the 49ers, Eagles and Saints.

The Broncos' reported asking price is at least a third-round pick according to Adam Schefter, so it'd be interesting to see if that price goes down if Sanders starts to sit out up until the deadline. The Broncos are currently 2-5 following an embarrassing loss to the Chiefs Thursday night, Joe Flacco doesn't seem to have much left in the tank and Sanders, 32, isn't getting any younger.

It appears more and more likely that the Broncos will look to find a new home for Sanders by next week, it'll just depend on whether they're willing to send him to a conference foe for less than what they originally wanted. John Elway could do what the Steelers did with Antonio Brown and trade Sanders to any other team, even if the return isn't as good.

Sam Darnold says he's 'seeing ghosts' after second interception of first half vs Patriots

Sam Darnold says he's 'seeing ghosts' after second interception of first half vs Patriots

Sam Darnold had a notably bad first half against the Patriots defense Monday night in New York. He started the game off with a bad interception after Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins generated immediate pressure, and then thew up another horrid pick in the red zone during the second quarter.

The Patriots applied pressure on the play, but they weren't close to getting home before Darnold panicked and threw the ball directly to Duron Harmon. Perhaps John Simon's strip-sack was still in his mind. After the play, Darnold was captured saying he was 'seeing ghosts' out on the field.

The way the Patriots have played all season and how they continued to wreak havoc during the first half Monday night, it's not that surprising for a second-year quarterback to experience some issues moving the ball.

The Jets were flying high coming into their Week 7 matchup after defeating the Cowboys in Darnold's first game back from an illness. They probably wish their matchup with the Patriots could have waited a week or two. This defense is quite ridiculous.
