NFL rumors: Here's how many players Patriots have on 2019 draft board

The New England Patriots usually have a small draft board, and apparently that hasn't changed despite the defending Super Bowl champions owning 12 picks (tied the for the most) in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports heard the Patriots' draft board is around 100 guys.

The first round of the draft is Thursday night in Nashville.

The Patriots, barring some sort of trade, will close out Round 1 with the No. 32 pick.

New England's most pressing needs entering the draft are tight end, offensive line, defensive line and wide receiver. Quarterback is another intruiging area for the Patriots, who still don't have a legitimate successor for 41-year-old Tom Brady. However, taking a quarterback makes more sense for the Patriots on Day 2 of the draft when the second and third rounds take place.

Tight end arguably is the top need for the Patriots in the first round, but the two best players at the position -- Iowa's T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant -- aren't likely to still be available at No. 32. The Patriots reportedly will "seriously consider" making a trade to move up for Fant, though.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn't afraid of making multiple trades in one draft, so we shouldn't be surprised if he tries to make a move for a player he thinks can make an immediate impact in 2019.

Tom Brady's apparent workout video with Josh Gordon has Patriots fans fired up

Tom Brady's apparent workout video with Josh Gordon has Patriots fans fired up

We don't know when (or if) Josh Gordon will play his next game for the New England Patriots, but it seems he's not straying far.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady posted a brief Instagram video/GIF on Wednesday morning of him throwing a pass to someone who looks a lot like Gordon.

Brady's Instagram story features some still photos from the workout, one of which gives us a better look at Gordon.

The veteran wide receiver was suspended indefinitely in December for violating the terms of his reinstatement after multiple NFL drug policy violations, and there's no still timetable for his return.

Gordon signed his restricted tender with the Patriots in April, though, ensuring that if he plays anywhere in 2019, it will be with New England.

The former first-team All-Pro working out with Brady is a good sign that the Patriots are still keeping him in the mix. And as is the case with any remotely positive Gordon news, Pats fans in the Instagram comments couldn't contain their excitement.

Gordon joins rookie receiver N'Keal Harry and Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman among the wideouts to join Brady for his now-famous Instagram workout sessions this offseason.

Shawne Merriman's hilarious Father's Day tweet will make Patriots fans smile

Shawne Merriman is no fan of the New England Patriots, but his son's allegiances seems to differ a bit.

The former Los Angeles Chargers star posted a Father's Day tweet Sunday with a photo of his son getting ready to buy a Tom Brady Patriots jersey with a Super Bowl LI patch, and the three-time Pro Bowler's reaction is priceless.

A Brady jersey probably is the last piece of NFL apparel that Merriman would want his son to buy, given his history with the Patriots.

Merriman still hasn't forgotten about the Patriots coming into San Diego and defeating the 14-2 Chargers in the 2006 AFC Divisional Round. It was the Chargers' best team in a long time, and after the Patriots won in dramatic fashion, some New England players mocked Merriman's sack dance during the on-field celebrations. Chargers players weren't happy at all.

But hey, props to Merriman's son, he knows greatness when he sees it. And he's not alone, evidenced by Brady once again leading all NFL players in royalties from sales of items including jerseys.
