As the Jaguars seem well on their way to another disappointing regular season, their best player has reportedly asked for a trade.
According to Adam Schefter, cornerback Jalen Ramsey asked the Jaguars to trade him one day after a clash with head coach Doug Marrone. The Jaguars are asking for at least one first round pick in any trade for the superstar corner.
Here's the confrontation between Ramsey and Marrone:
Ramsey joins Minkah Fitzpatrick as talented defensive backs to ask for a trade within the first month of the season. While the Patriots seem to be all set in their secondary, allowing just three points in two games so far this season, both situations are worth monitoring for them.
Whether they want to make an offer to either team or another AFC contender swoops in to acquire one of them, big transactions have an impact on the best team in football no matter what. The Patriots had a hard time negotiating with the Steelers for Antonio Brown because Pittsburgh's ownership did not want to send a marquee player to their rival. While the Jags and Dolphins aren't contenders, neither team has much love for the Pats or have much reason to do business with them.
Another factor in acquiring Ramsey is his contract. Jared Goff, Carson Wentz and Ezekiel Elliott were three players drafted in front of Ramsey in the 2016 NFL Draft and have all received large extensions. Ramsey is in line for his own, and considering he's arguably the best corner in the game, he'll command a large figure.
Considering the Patriots are already paying Stephon Gilmore $13 million, that'd be a lot of money to commit to a secondary that has been exceptional this season already.
