NFL Rumors: Patriots met with these two West Virginia wide receivers

The New England Patriots are making the most out of their trip to Morgantown, it appears.

The Patriots met with West Virginia wide receivers David Sills V and Gary Jennings on Wednesday ahead of the Mountaineers' pro day, NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reported Thursday.

Sills and Jennings were the two leading receivers last season for quarterback Will Grier, who is one of the top QB prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft and reportedly also plans to meet with the Patriots.

Sills, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound converted quarterback, led the Mountaineers with 65 receptions for 986 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2018. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Jennings was right behind him, catching 54 passes for 917 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Both players projected as mid- to late-round draft picks, but that's around when the Patriots could target a wide receiver; NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry has New England going wideout in both the third and fourth rounds of his latest Patriots seven-round mock draft.

The Patriots re-signed Phillip Dorsett and made a couple depth adds in Bruce Ellington and Maurice Harris, but they're still pretty thin at receiver behind Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman, so it makes sense they'd kick the tires on some pass-catchers who could fall to them in the middle rounds.
