The New England Patriots have made a much-needed acquisition at wide receiver by agreeing to a three-year, $ 33 million contract with Kansas City Chiefs free agent JuJu Smith-Schuster, per multiple reports.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Patriots offered Smith-Schuster more money than the Chiefs.

Smith-Schuster confirmed the move himself on Twitter:

Smith-Schuster's contract is the same in years and total money that Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers signed with the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week.

Meyers also reacted on Twitter to the Patriots signing Smith-Schuster:

Smith-Schuster played the first five years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. His best season with the Steelers came in 2018 when he tallied 114 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns.Β

Smith-Schuster left the Steelers and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2022 season. He caught 78 passes for 933 yards and three touchdowns in an explosive offense led by Chiefs quarterback and league MVP Patrick Mahomes. Smith-Schuster tallied seven receptions for 53 yards in the Chiefs' win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.Β

The Patriots now have Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton, Lynn Bowden Jr. and Raleigh Webb on their wide receiver depth chart.
