NFL rumors: Raiders want Patriots free agent Trent Brown for new-look offense

The Oakland Raiders seem to be looking for a quick rebuild.

They agreed to a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown over the weekend in exchange for two draft picks, and they also figure to be major players in the NFL's free-agent market, which officially opens  Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. The legal tampering period for free agency begins at noon Monday, and one player the Raiders are expected to pursue is former New England Patriots left tackle Trent Brown.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport provided an update Monday morning on the Raiders and Brown on NFL Network.

The Patriots traded for Brown in a deal with the San Francisco 49ers last April, and the 25-year-old offensive lineman had a tremendous season protecting Tom Brady's blindside. Brown, in particular, played at a very high level throughout playoffs, helping the Patriots dominate on the ground and give up only one sack in their run to a Super Bowl LIII championship over the Los Angeles Rams.

Brown is the top left tackle in free agency, so he's likely to earn a massive raise and draw interest from several teams. The Patriots could choose to move on from Brown and go with Isaiah Wynn at left tackle -- one of their 2018 first-round picks out of Georgia who missed all of last season with an Achilles injury.
