The New England Patriots are moving on from a veteran wide receiver with the start of the 2020 NFL season approaching.
The team is releasing Mohamed Sanu, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
This move comes after the Patriots gave up a 2020 second-round draft pick to acquire Sanu in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons last October.
Sanu's release leaves the Patriots thin at wide receiver. Julian Edelman is the only reliable veteran at the position.
NFL Twitter, as you can imagine, was full of strong takes following the reports of Sanu's release. Here's some of the notable reaction.
