One of the most impressive streaks in NFL history was snapped Thursday night at SoFi Stadium.
The New England Patriots suffered their seventh loss of the season in a 24-3 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. With just three games remaining in the 2020 regular season, the Patriots can no longer win 10 or more games, which means their record streak of 17 consecutive years with double-digit wins has come to an end.
The Patriots set this record in 2019 when they passed the San Francisco 49ers for the most consecutive seasons with 10-plus victories. The 49ers won 10 or more games in 16 straight seasons from 1983 through 1998.
This probably won't be the only historic Patriots streak to end this year.
New England's run of 11 consecutive AFC East titles and playoff appearances also is in serious jeopardy of being halted. The Patriots are not mathematically eliminated from the division title chase or the AFC playoff race as a result of their loss to the Rams, but they will need a miracle to earn a postseason berth.
