The Patriots have activated rookie cornerback Duke Dawson from injured reserve and added him to the 53-man roster.
Backup running back Kenjon Barner and linebacker Nicholas Grigsby, mainly a special teamer, were released.
Dawson, 5-11, 198 pounds, is a second-round pick (56th overall) from Florida. He was placed on IR in September with a hamstring injury but has been practicing since late October. He played mostly slot corner in the preseason. Jonathan Jones has been playing there this season.
Rookies J.C. Jackson and Keion Crossen are also in the cornerback group with Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty. The Pats placed veteran corner Eric Rowe on IR earlier this season.
Running back Rex Burkhead is also eligible to return from IR for the game against the Minnesota Vikings Dec. 2. He returned to practice last week.
