Patriots amped for road win . . . and extra day off

After squeaking out their first road victory of the season Sunday in Chicago, the Patriots were understandably excited. After starting off 1-2 and hearing all about how the dynasty is over, the Pats now sit at 5-2, atop the AFC East and second in the conference behind the Chiefs (whose lone loss is to New England).

For Pats fans and Bill Belichick connoisseurs, the fact that he was happy with the two-special teams touchdowns should come as no suprise. Early in the second quarter, Cordarrelle Patterson returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. In the third, Dont'a Hightower blocked a punt and Kyle Van Noy scooped up the loose ball and brought it to the house.

What might come as a suprise from Belichick? An extra day off. New England plays Buffalo next week on Monday night, so the Pats will get another day of rest.
