The New England Patriots announced Thursday their team captains for the 2019 NFL season, and one player is making his first appearance on the list.

Linebacker Elandon Roberts, who the Patriots selected in the sixth round of the 2016 draft, will be a captain for the first time.

Here's the full list of seven captains:

Tom Brady, QB
David Andrews, C
Dont’a Hightower LB
Devin McCourty, S
Matthew Slater, WR
Elandon Roberts, LB
James White, RB

Andrews won't play this season after being hospitalized for blood clots late last month, but the Patriots center will continue to be one of the team's most respected leaders off the field.

The Patriots open the new season Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Gillette Stadium.
