The New England Patriots' summer vacation is starting early.
The Patriots announced this morning they have canceled their final two organized activity practices scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. That means they won't return to the practice field untl training camp in late July.
As ESPN's Mike Reiss noted, the team still came to Gillette Stadium on Monday for a "team-building experience."
That head coach Bill Belichick called off the final two OTAs is a sign he believes his team worked hard this spring and is in good shape entering 2019 training camp. Belichick also canceled the final two OTA sessions of 2018, and New England went on to win a Super Bowl that season.
The Patriots held a total of eight practices this spring, including five voluntary OTA sessions and three mandatory minicamp practices. Training camp dates and times have yet to be announced.
Update: According to The Athletic's Jeff Howe, the Patriots spent their off day paintballing. NBC Sports Boston can't confirm whether paintballing falls under the preferred exercises category in the TB12 method, but it certainly counts as team-building.
