Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore admits opposing WRs ‘are scared to talk to me'

One of the worst sights for NFL wide receivers every Sunday is seeing New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore line up opposite them.

Gilmore is the leading candidate for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award after another strong performance in Sunday's Week 12 win against the Dallas Cowboys at Gillette Stadium. The 29-year-old defensive back primarily covered Cowboys wide receiver, Amari Cooper, and prevented him from tallying a single reception. In fact, Gilmore's coverage was so tight that Cooper was only targeted by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott twice.

NFL Network caught up with Gilmore after the Patriots' win, and he made an interesting revelation to Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. Check it out in the video below:

Wide receivers are some of the biggest trash talkers in football, so for them to be pretty quiet with Gilmore says a lot about the Patriots star's ability.

Gilmore was an All-Pro at cornerback last season and the only player at the position to receive an "elite" grade from Pro Football Focus. He is widely considered the best cornerback in the league, and he even weighed in on that debate on Twitter following Sunday's victory.

It's hard to argue with Gilmore based on how well he's played for the league's No. 1 ranked pass defense.
