This Patriots cornerback leads NFL in two important pass defense stats

The New England Patriots pass defense didn't give a stellar performance versus the Houston Texans in Week 13, but the unit has played remarkably well overall through 12 games.

One of the reasons for this success has been the play of cornerback J.C. Jackson. He leads the NFL in two important defensive categories, per Next Gen Stats.

Take a look at the graphic in the tweet below:

The 24-year-old defensive back has tallied two interceptions, four passes defensed and 18 tackles in 12 games. Jackson isn't just impressing on defense, either. He's also played an important part in the Patriots' special teams success, and that was evident in Week 4 when he intercepted Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen twice and blocked a punt that led to a Matthew Slater touchdown. This is the kind of versatility Patriots head coach Bill Belichick values so much.

Jackson could play a key role in Sunday's much-anticipated Week 14 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium. He matched up against Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins throughout last season's AFC Championship Game victory in Kansas City.
