Patriots cornerbacks coach Josh Boyer joining Brian Flores' Dolphins staff

The Miami Dolphins will be very familiar with the New England Patriots next season.

The Dolphins officially announced the hiring of 16 assistant coaches under head coach Brian Flores on Friday, one of whom appears to be a new hire: longtime Patriots assistant coach Josh Boyer.

Boyer, who had been with New England since 2006 and spent the last seven seasons as the Patriots' cornerbacks coach, will be Miami's defensive pass game coordinator/cornerbacks coach.

Flores, who accepted the Dolphins' coaching job the day after winning Super Bowl LIII as New England's de facto defensive coordinator, has littered his staff with ex-Patriots coaches. Here's a list of coaches in Miami with ties to New England:

-- offensive coordinator Chad O'Shea (Patriots' wide receivers coach, 2009-18)

-- defensive coordinator Patrick Graham (Patriots coaching assistant/linebackers coach/defensive line coach, 2009-15)

-- assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski (Patriots offensive assistant/assistant QB coach, 2013-18)

-- tight ends coach George Godsey (Patriots offensive assistant/tight ends coach, 2011-13)

-- quality control coach Tiquan Underwood (Patriots wide receiver, 2011)
