Patriots heavy two-touchdown favorites over Bills on Monday night

The New England Patriots are the biggest betting favorite on the board for Week 8 of the NFL season as they prepare to take on the division rival Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.

Tom Brady and company are set as 14-point road favorites at Buffalo for Monday night's game at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com, with the Patriots riding a four-game winning streak atop the AFC East standings. That includes last week's 38-31 victory at Chicago as a 2-point road favorite in which Brady threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns.

James White had two touchdown receptions for New England in that win, with Julian Edelman also hauling in a touchdown pass. Josh Gordon had four catches for 100 yards.

New England won its opener 27-20 at home over the Houston Texans as 6.5-point favorites, then dropped back-to-back games to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions on the road. From there, though, the Patriots got back on track, with wins over the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs at home before last week's victory at Chicago.

Patriots backers on the betting lines at the sportsbooks have also found success over the past month, with New England covering against each of the Dolphins, Colts and Bears, and coming up just short of a payout in their 43-40 win over the Chiefs as 3.5-point chalk.

The Bills, meanwhile, are 2-5 straight up and 3-4 against the spread on the season and carry a two-game losing streak into Monday night's matchup. Buffalo fell 20-13 on the road at Houston as a 10-point underdog two weeks ago, then was blasted 37-5 at Indianapolis as a 7-point underdog last week. That has Buffalo in the basement in the AFC East standings.

And the Bills will be going with Derek Anderson at quarterback again this week, after the veteran fill-in threw for just 175 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions in the team's loss to Indianapolis last week. Josh Allen remains out for Buffalo with his elbow injury.

New England won both of its games against Buffalo last season, with a 23-3 road victory as a 7.5-point favorite in early December, and a 37-16 home victory as a 10.5-point favorite in late December. Overall the Patriots are 8-2 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10 games against the Bills dating back to 2013, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

The OVER/UNDER is split at 5-5 in the last 10 games between the Patriots and Bills for totals bettors. On the season New England is 4-3 on the totals, while Buffalo is 2-5 – and the Bills are riding a run of five straight UNDER results. The total for Monday sits at 44 points.

New England trails only the Los Angeles Rams at +550 (wager $100 to win $550) on the Super Bowl 53 odds. The Bills have fallen almost completely off the board at +40000.
