The Thursday injury report has been released, and for the second consecutive day, the Pittsburgh Steelers were without starting free safety Sean Davis because of an ankle injury.
If Davis is unable to play, rookie Kameron Kelly projects to be the next man up at free safety when the Steelers visit the New England Patriots on Sunday night for a Week 1 matchup. Being forced to start a rookie defensive back on the road against a quarterback of Tom Brady's caliber is far from an ideal scenario for the Steelers, who are 1-5 all-time (including playoffs) at Gillette Stadium.
The Patriots' injury report Thursday was the same as Wednesday's. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (hamstring), tight end Matt LaCosse (ankle) and safety Obi Melifonwu (ankle) all were limited participants in practice.
Here's the second injury report of the week from the Patriots and Steelers ahead of Sunday night's showdown in Foxboro.
