Former New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi suffered a stroke on July 4, but his situation has improved.

Bruschi gave an encouraging update on his status Monday morning, revealing in an Instagram post that he's doing "much better."

Bruschi, who now works for ESPN as an NFL analyst, also suffered a stroke on Feb. 16, 2005, not long after the Patriots defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX.

He recovered and returned to game action the following season before deciding to retire in 2009 after playing 13 years for the Patriots and winning three Super Bowl titles.
