Patriots lose RB Hill for season with torn ACL

It didn’t look good when it happened, and it didn’t look good when Patriots running back Jeremy Hill tweeted after the game and now, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Hill does indeed have a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

A photo posted on HIll's Instagram account summed up the running back's feelings pretty well Sunday night and was a pretty good indication of where things were headed.

In the third quarter of the Pats' 27-20 victory over Houston in the season opener, after the Texans recovered a Rob Gronkowski fumble following a 25-yard completion from Tom Brady, Hill was in pursuit to make the tackle. Patriots fullback James Develin was blocked into the side of Hill's right knee. It buckled and he fell. Hill stayed on the turf for about two minutes before being helped to the sidelines. He didn't put any weight on the leg and immediately went to the sideline medical tent before being helped to the locker room.

Hill, 25, signed a one-year deal with the Patriots as a free agent in the offseason after four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. His first Patriots season now ends after just one game.
