Patriots offensive line praises Dante Scarnecchia before Super Bowl LIII

Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia is a legend in New England.

He's been with the team for decades, and has been in charge of the most important job of this Patriots dynasty: ensuring Tom Brady remains upright long enough to win games.

Now, the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl, thanks in no small part to "Scar" and his offensive line that has played as well as they have all season in January.

Scarnecchia has long inspired players through his leadership and expertise. This year is no different.

"His attitude definitely reflects leadership... He's a great leader in our room, and that definitely trickles down to the rest of the locker room", said Trent Brown, an offseason addition who's started every game at left tackle this season. "It's a great thing when a coach has your back and you know it... You just play different, feel different, everything is different."

Brown is far from alone in his opinion of Scarnecchia.

"He's a very caring coach, he cares a lot about you," said David Andrews, who's gone from an undrafted free agent to starting center in three Super Bowls under Scarnecchia's tutelage. "Scar's helped me out so much, he's taught me so much about the game, how to play the game the right way... He's helped my career tenfold.

"You see him come in, each day, work like he does, it's inspirational to us as a unit. When a guy like that works so hard for you to succeed, you want to give it right back to him."

Scarnecchia returned the admiration and respect that his players view him with.

"I like the whole room, I like everybody in the room, I think they all have a great work ethic, they all pay attention, they all try to do what we ask them to do... I don't know if you can ask for any more than that."

At the end of the day, Scarnecchia doesn't see his job as all that complicated, either.

"What we're supposed to do is take the people that we've been given and try to get the most out of them... and I think that's what we all strive for.

"When I came into pro football a long time ago, what I noticed was that if you could explain to a player how he could do his job as good as he could do it, that they would really embrace that."

Despite the length of his tenure with the Patriots, this won't be Scarnecchia's last chance for a ring, as he's reportedly committed to returning next season.

This year's coaching job is as good as any other on Scarnecchia's lenghty resume, but their final test comes in the form of Aaron Donald and the rest of a talented Rams defense set on disrupting Tom Brady and preventing the Patriots from winning yet another championship.
