Perry's biggest takeaway concerns the early bye in Week 6 and the grueling stretch that it presents for Bill Belichick's team as the post-Brady Era begins in 2020.

Curran is focused on the slate of quality quarterbacks the Pats are matched up against.

Here's a portion of their observations:

Perry: "Having a Week 6 bye? Let me tell you, not ideal, especially when the schedule is as tough as it is and you have as much travel as you do facing off against the AFC West and the NFC West...You're almost playing three months straight with no break. It's really hard."

Curran: "Thirteen of the Patriots opponents have first-round quarterbacks [assuming Chargers' top pick Justin Herbert beats out Tyrod Taylor]...There are a lot of good, talented quarterbacks you're going to have to deal with."

And among the non-first-round QBs New England will face are the Seahawks' Russell Wilson and old friend Jimmy Garoppolo.

Curran: "It's the order that matters and the timing of the games...[Opening with] Miami, Seattle, Chiefs, Broncos, Tough little run. Next five: Niners, at Bills, at Jets, Ravens, at Houston. Four of the five are playoff teams. Three of the five are on the road. All of the five have what we would say are capable quarterbacks and then we're into post-Thanksgiving...That's a tough run."

Perry also points to the Arizona Cardinals visiting Foxboro following the Pats visit to Houston that could provide a sneaky-tough opponent.

Perry: "I actually think the Cardinals are going to be a halfway decent team. I like the quarterback [Kyler Murray]. They've added DeAndre Hopkins."

Perry also pointed to the QBs the Patriots will face as part of that stretch. "[Josh] Allen, [Lamar] Jackson, [Deshaun] Watson and Kyler Murray. Really hard quarterbacks to be chasing around the lot for 60 minutes."

Later in the pod, Curran touches on the development of Patriots presumptive starting QB Jarrett Stidham and how it might be hindered by this unconventional offseason. Also, Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star drops by to talk Chiefs and Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald breaks down the Dolphins.
