Mac Jones will embark on his first NFL season when the New England Patriots host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
What kind of season should we expect out of the first-round quarterback? NBC Sports Boston's own Tom E. Curran took to Twitter to ask Patriots fans in a poll, and one option earned more than half of the 3,699 total votes.
A whopping 59.9 percent of respondents believe Jones will finish with around 23 touchdown passes, 10 interceptions and 3,700 passing yards. The second-place answer was 18 TDs, 15 INTs and 3,200 yards at 19.2 percent, 16.9 percent voted 25 TDs, nine INTS, 4,000 yards and only four percent voted 15 TDs, 12 INTs and 2,500 yards.
So, what would Curran and Phil Perry vote? They answered the question on a brand new episode of the Patriots Talk Podcast.
"I think it's a little too aggressive," Perry said of the 23 TDs, 10 INTs, 3,700 yards option. "I believe if you throw for 3,700 yards and you average about 30 throws a game, he's gonna be up close to 7.5 yards per attempt. That's pretty good. That's a little more efficient than I think he'll be.
"I would be closer to the 18 touchdowns, I guess 15 picks, 3,200 yards. I guess I just don't love any of these options here. That's a lot of picks. ... I think something closer to 17 (TDs) and eight (INTs), somewhere in there."
As for Curran? He's going with the consensus and choosing Option C.
