FOXBORO, Mass. -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is inching closer to another NFL record.

Brady threw a 25-yard touchdown to Patriots wide receiver Phillip Dorsett in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 3 game against the New York Jets.

It was the 523rd career regular season touchdown pass for Brady, moving him ahead of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for second place on the all-time touchdown pass leaderboard (regular season only).

Here's the updated list:

1. Peyton Manning, 539
2. Tom Brady, 523
3. Drew Brees, 522
4. Brett Favre, 508
5. Dan Marino, 420

Brady already has the record for both playoff (73) and Super Bowl (18) touchdown passes. He'll likely pass Manning later this season to own the regular-season mark, too.

Brees also has a chance to pass Manning before retiring, but the 40-year-old QB is currently out for several weeks after suffering a hand injury in Week 2.
