Patriots to visit Pro Football Hall of Fame as a team after Ty Law's induction

The New England Patriots' preseason schedule will afford them a great opportunity to recognize a franchise legend this weekend.

The Patriots plan to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Sunday on their way out to Detroit for joint practices with the Lions, our own Phil Perry confirmed Friday. NFL Network's Mike Giardi was the first to report the news.

Patriots great Ty Law will join the Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019 in an induction ceremony Saturday in Canton. The current Patriots will miss that ceremony, but they'll still be there for part of Law's special weekend.

Two of Law's former co-workers are still on this Patriots squad, as head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady -- who won three Super Bowls with Law in 2001, 2003 and 2004 -- are entering their 20th season together in New England.

As for the rest of the team, a field trip to visit Law at the Hall will give them some perspective on the start of the Patriots dynasty that still continues today. From there, they'll visit another old friend of Belichick's in Lions coach Matt Patricia before taking on Detroit in their preseason opener next Thursday.
