Patriots-Chargers Week 13 inactives: Could Dalton Keene be involved?

Patriots

The New England Patriots are giving the rookie a shot.

After being activated from injured reserve Saturday, first-year tight end Dalton Keene is active for Sunday's Week 13 matchup against the Chargers in Los Angeles.

Keene has appeared in just one game this season and caught one pass for eight yards against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.

The Chargers have allowed nine touchdowns to tight ends this season -- tied for the most in the NFL -- so perhaps Keene and starting tight end Ryan Izzo will see a few targets from Cam Newton.

Safety Terrence Brooks is a notable inactive for New England, as he'll miss his first game of 2020. The veteran played just two defensive snaps in last Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals and hasn't seen more than 13 defensive snaps since Week 8.

The Chargers, meanwhile, will be without starting linebacker Denzel Perryman but will welcome back cornerback Casey Heyward, who missed Week 12 with a groin injury.
