There are oodles of reasons for what happened Monday night and what’s happened all season for this 3-5 team. Some of them – like the COVID opt outs – are specific to 2020. Plenty – like the slow development of draft picks and depth issues at key skill positions – have their roots in past years.

They have a shot at bookending an aerial shredding by former Ravens franchise quarterback Joe Flacco to a demoralizing ground assault by Lamar Jackson. And the Ravens aren’t winless. They are 6-2 and their losses are to the Chiefs and Steelers. Toughest game of the season for New England, and then the schedule lightens up a tad.
