Urban Meyer enjoyed a very successful career as a college football head coach, winning national championships with the University of Florida and Ohio State. The Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping he can find similar success in the NFL.

UPDATE (April 29 at 8:25 p.m. ET): The Jaguars have selected Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Patriots will be one of Lawrence's opponents in his rookie season when the Jaguars come to Gillette Stadium. The date and time of that game has not yet been announced.

ORINGAL STORY FROM JAN. 14: The Jaguars held a press conference Friday to introduce Meyer as the team's next head coach. It's his first NFL head coaching gig -- Meyer has been out of coaching since 2018 when he left the Buckeyes.

The New England Patriots will be one of the teams to get an early look at Meyer's Jaguars next season.

Jacksonville is one of the eight opponents that the Pats will play at Gillette Stadium in 2021. The league has not yet announced the specific date or time for next year's schedule.

The Jaguars could look very different in Meyer's first campaign in charge, specifically at quarterback.

Jacksonville finished the 2020 season with a 1-15 record and earned the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Everyone expects the Jaguars to select Clemson's star quarterback Trevor Lawrence with that pick. Lawrence is one of the highest-rated QB prospects in a long time and projected to be a franchise cornerstone-type of player.

The Patriots are another team in need of a quarterback and could look to select one in the upcoming draft. Therefore, it's possible that next season's Patriots vs. Jaguars matchup in Foxboro could feature two rookie quarterbacks.

Either way, the Jaguars will be trying to achieve their first ever road win against the Patriots. Jacksonville is 0-8 all time at New England, including two AFC Championship Game losses in 1996 and 2017.
