Popped and Dropped: Josh Gordon, Demaryius Thomas flash big-play potential

Share

FOXBORO -- Just because it's the preseason finale doesn't mean there aren't takeaways. Particularly when the Patriots roll out three of their top wideouts to take some snaps with their impressive rookie quarterback.

Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, and Demaryius Thomas all shook the rust off for their first action of the preseason, and Thomas in particular shined, catching a game-high seven balls for 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

While those veterans all played, undrafted rookie Gunner Olszewski continued his fight for a roster spot by playing in all three phases of the game.

But not everyone came out unscathed. Some players — by virtue of their play, their fit on the roster or injuries — didn't strengthen their case for a roster spot, flopping in their final preseason audition.
