Bean: Ranking the 14 starting QBs in the NFL playoffs

The regular season is over, but the quarterback power rankings won't end. They'll NEVER end. (Eh, they'll end after the playoffs, but let's rank the guys that are still playing.)

Last week's ranking: 32/32 (John Wolford)

Week 17 stats: 22-of-28, 231 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 56 rush yards

Jared Goff is questionable against the Seahawks with a thumb injury that kept him out last week. Wolford wasn't very good against the Cardinals.

Last week's ranking: 30 ("Whoever Starts For the Football Team")

Week 17 stats: 22-of-32, 162 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
Regular season stats: 66.7 completion %, 1,582 yards, 6 TD, 8 INT

Smith's a feel-good story who just isn't very good at football. His comeback aside, it would be just wonderfully chaotic to see him lead Washington on a playoff run this season.

3/14

Week 17 stats: 33-of-42, 252 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 22 rush yards

Regular season stats: 67.0 completion %, 205.5 yards/game, 16 TD, 8 INT

Trubisky has a potentially big postseason ahead of him. If he can lead the Bears to any sort of run, he could net a sizable deal after a herky-jerky season. Can the Bears upset the Saints Sunday? I wouldn't rule it out.

Last week's ranking: 16/32

Week 17 stats: 17-of-27, 196 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 44 rush yards

Regular season stats: 62.8 completion %, 222.7 yards/game, 26 TD, 8 INT

Mayfield hasn't done much the last two weeks, including failing to do anything against the Jets. Even Cam Newton did something against the Jets.

5/14

Last week's ranking: 15/32

Week 17 stats: 17-of-27, 164 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

Regular season stats: 68.0 completion %, 260.6 yards/game, 24 TD, 11 INT

Rivers kind of limped to the finish line, following up a good month-plus with a couple of mediocre performances to close out the regular season. Having to outproduce Buffalo's offense won't be easy Saturday.

6/14

Last week's ranking: 12/32

Week 17 stats: DNP

Regular season stats: 65.6 completion %, 253.5 yards/game, 33 TD, 10 INT

Roethlisberger sat in the regular-season finale, but he should still be feeling strong off his three-touchdown performance against the Colts in Week 16. Now he'll face the Browns, the very team against which he sat last week.

7/14

Last week's ranking: 14/32

Week 17 stats: 22-of-32, 201 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT

Regular season stats: 70.5 completion %, 245.2 yards/game, 24 TD, 6 INT, 2 rush TD

Brees threw for three touchdowns in two of his three games after returning from injury. Alvin Kamara ran for six touchdowns in the other game, so it's not like we can hold that game against Brees. He was strong to finish the regular season.

8/14

Last week's ranking: 6/32

Week 17 stats: 10-of-18, 113 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 97 rush yards

Regular season stats: 64.4 completion %, 183.8 yards/game, 26 TD, 9 INT, 1,005 rush yards, 7 rush TD

Jackson has struggled mightily against the Titans in his two starts against them. If he's still on this list next week, he'll have moved up.

9/14

Last week's ranking: 8/32

Week 17 stats: 26-of-41, 399 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT

Regular season stats: 65.7 completion %, 289.6 yards/game, 40 TD, 12 INT, 3 rush TD

This is high for Brady, but he padded his stats like crazy over the final three weeks of the regular season thanks to two matchups with the Falcons and one against the Lions. Take away those 10 touchdowns, and 30 touchdowns over 13 games -- still good! -- is more representative of how Brady's been this season. These are power rankings, though, so we've got to factor in the freebies Brady's picked up of late. Don't forget, though: Brady stunk in his only playoff game last year.

10/14

Last week's ranking: 4/32

Week 17 stats: 20-of-36, 181 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 29 rush yards

Regular season stats: 68.8 completion %, 263.3 yards/game, 40 TD, 13 INT, 513 rush yards, 2 rush TD

If you take away his game against the Jets, Wilson hasn't really gone off (which we'll call a three-touchdown performance) since November 1 against the 49ers. His strong season numbers are heavily skewed by a dominant first month of the season.

11/14

Last week's ranking: 7/32

Week 17 stats: 18-of-27, 216 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 38 rush yards, 2 rush TD

Regular season stats: 65.5 completion %, 238.7 yards/game, 33 TD, 7 INT, 266 rush yards, 7 rush TD

Shame on Wilson for not being good enough of late to be ahead of Tannehill on this list. Tannehill's done more damage on the ground than in the air the last couple of weeks. He's coming off a three-touchdown performance against the Texans as he enters the postseason, a space where he was very good a year ago (6 TD, 1 INT over three games).

12/14

Last week's ranking: 3/32

Week 17 stats: DNP

Regular season stats: 66.3 completion %, 316.0 yards/game, 38 TD, 6 INT, 308 rush yards, 2 rush TD

When you factor in him sitting last week, Mahomes will have had two weeks off when the Chiefs play in the divisional round. Can't wait for the rest vs. rust conversation!

13/14

Last week's ranking: 2/32

Week 17 stats: 18-of-25, 224 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT

Regular season stats: 69.2 completion %, 284.0 yards/game, 37 TD, 10 INT, 421 rush yards, 8 rush TD

Allen made a strong push over the final five games to surpass Mahomes as the league's second-best quarterback this season. Pretty crazy considering the questions we had about him entering the playoffs last year. Saturday against the Colts could be tougher than expected, though, especially if Stephon Diggs and/or Cole Beasley -- both of whom are questionable -- are unable to go.

14/14

Last week's ranking: 1/32

Week 17 stats: 19-of-24, 240 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT

Regular season stats: 70.7 completion %, 268.7 yards/game, 48 TD, 5 INT, 3 rush TD

Rodgers will run away with the MVP, but he'll rest this week. We'll see if he can grab a Lombardi to add to this season's hardware.
