Lamar Jackson supplanted Joe Flacco as the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens this season and led his team to a surprise NFL playoff berth as AFC North champions.
Jackson didn't play particularly well in the Ravens' AFC wild card playoff game loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but the young quarterback without question is the future of the Ravens.
He has lofty goals for his time in Baltimore, too, and he provided an explanation of that to a former Ravens legend.
"Ain't no ceiling," Jackson said in a recent interview with Ray Lewis on Showtime's "Inside the NFL." "I already said it, when I got drafted, I want to bring a Super Bowl to Baltimore, so I'm going to try to bring as much as I can. I want to bring a Super Bowl here. I want to be the (Tom) Brady. Bring multiple if I could."
Brady, of course, has won five Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots and is one of three active quarterbacks (Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger are the others) with multiple titles. Brady and the Patriots are aiming for a sixth Super Bowl championship this season, but to reach Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, they must beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Patriots' run with Brady should end fairly soon given the fact the legendary quarterback is 41 years old. Another AFC team will emerge when that happens, and it's possible Jackson's Ravens could be that squad. Similar to Brady, he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder from the NFL Draft. Lots of people said Jackson wasn't pro quarterback material and some teams reportedly requested he work out as a wide receiver before the draft. Proving the doubters wrong should give Jackson all the motivation needed to help the Ravens get back to being a Super Bowl contender.
