Report: Patriots WR Julian Edelman to have more tests on injured ribs

While the Patriots rolled to an easy 30-14 win over the Jets Sunday, one of the few concerning developments was the status of Julian Edelman.

Edelman walked off the field awkwardly following a catch late in the first half, immediately went to the locker room, and didn't return in the second half. X-rays taken after the game came back negative, but he's reportedly not 100 percent out of the woods just yet.

According to NFL Network's Mike Giardi, Edelman will undergo an MRI Monday to determine if there's any damage to his rib cartilage.

Edelman finished Sunday's game with a game-high seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown, and he leads New England in receptions (17), targets (25), and receiving yards (196) this season.

His health is paramount to the Patriots passing attack, as the receiving corps has been thinned in recent days with the release of Antonio Brown and injuries to both Edelman and Josh Gordon against the Jets. With Edelman and Gordon out for parts of the second half, the team's group of wideouts only included Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski.
