Report: Texans formally request to interview Patriots' Nick Caserio for GM job

Nick Caserio has been a valuable member of the New England Patriots front office for many years, so it's no surprise rival teams are looking to hire him away from the defending Super Bowl champions.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported Monday the Houston Texans have formally requested an interview with Caserio.

The Patriots might have to let Caserio interview for the Texans' open general manager job. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer explains in the tweet below:

Caserio is the Patriots' director of player personnel and has spent 18 years with the organization. He's been a key part of the team's scouting and roster-building efforts over the last decade.

The Texans have a vacant general manager position after firing Brian Gaine last Friday. Gaine spent less than two years as Texans general manager.

Houston already has a few ties to the Patriots, most notably head coach Bill O'Brien (former Patriots offensive coordinator) and executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby (former Patriots character coach).

Caserio certainly is ready to be an NFL general manager, but does he want to leave the Patriots? We might soon find out.
