Rex Burkhead (foot injury) not expected to play in Patriots-Giants, per report

The New York Giants will be severely shorthanded Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. But their opponent isn't exactly at full strength, either.

New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead isn't expected to play against the Giants due to a foot injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday afternoon.

Burkhead, who also missed last Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, was listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

That means the Patriots will turn to Sony Michel, James White and either Brandon Bolden or Damien Harris in the running game.

Bolden picked up some of Burkhead's slack last week with a 29-yard touchdown reception in a 33-7 win over Washington.

New England also will be without wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, while Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon both are listed as questionable but are expected to play.
