The New England Patriots’ offensive line has undergone significant changes this offseason with Nate Solder signing in New York and Isaiah Wynn being taken in the first round.
According to the Boston Herald, however, it appears Patriots fans don’t have to worry about losing guard Shaq Mason.
The 24-year-old indicated he wants to stay in New England beyond the duration of his rookie contract, which ends following this season.
“Yes, I would,” said Mason. “But as far as all that goes, I don’t look ahead honestly. I’m just worried about reporting to training camp July 25 and taking it from there.”
Mason has emerged as one of the game’s premier guards and if he isn’t focused on cashing in, that’s great news for a Patriots unit tasked with protecting Tom Brady toward the end of his career.
