Some interesting observations about the 2019 NFL coaches group photo

Bill Belichick finally returned to the annual NFL head coaches photo, after not appearing in it since 2015.

Sean Payton, Mike Tomlin, Bruce Arians, Pete Carroll, Adam Gase, and Sean McVay do not appear in the photo.

While Belichick cannot be said to enjoy such events, famously downing a glass of orange juice and pushing away reporters' microphones during previous appearances at the annual meeting, the New England Patriots coach returned to the annual photo after a hiatus.

While one could only speculate, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton's continued beef with the NFL after a bad non-call in the NFC Championship Game, along with the drama surrounding Mike Tomlin's Pittsburgh Steelers, and McVay's Super Bowl loss, may explain some of the other no-shows.

But let's focus on who's in the photo:

Belichick is seen on the left side of the photo in the front row, seated between Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh, and Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer.

Meanwhile, his former assistants ,Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia, and Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, are seen in front of one another on the right side of the photo.

Belichick, who wore flip flops in his last coaches photo, is a bit more dressed up this time around.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid looks to be enjoying the sunny Arizona weather, and is front and center in the photo, wearing a bright red shirt, and may be a tad sun burnt.

Regardless, the annual photo and ensuing coaches breakfast is a good opportunity for the NFL's brightest minds to get together after a long season spent gameplanning against each other.
