Super Bowl LIII referee crew for Patriots vs. Rams showdown revealed

Officiating was a major storyline in the AFC and NFC Championship Games, so you can bet the NFL will want to avoid all of that for Super Bowl LIII between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.

The referee who draws a Super Bowl assignment always is one of the highest graded officials in the league, and this season's ref for the big game is John Parry. Check out the entire crew in the tweet below.

This isn't the first Super Bowl for Parry. He also was the referee for Super Bowl XLVI, the second championship clash between the Patriots and New York Giants. The Giants won that Super Bowl with a go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter. Officiating was not a huge storyline from that game.

Before Patriots fans get concerned, their team does have a 9-5 record in games Parry has refereed. The Rams are 7-0 in games Parry has officiated, however, including an NFC Divisional Round win over the Dallas Cowboys nearly two weeks ago.

Parry's crew for Super Bowl LIII is a very experienced one. As you can see in the graphic above, every official selected has Super Bowl experience, and three of them have been in multiple Super Bowls. Hopefully, all of that experience translates into a well-officiated game, because the last thing the NFL needs is a controversial call as bad as what saw in the NFC title game on the Super Bowl stage.
