Tom Brady heaps praise on Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore

Stephon Gilmore had a tremendous 2018 regular season, and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was full of praise for his cornerback teammate Thursday.

"He's had a great year, and he's been so solid," Brady told reporters. "It's tough to complete the ball on him. We feel that way in practice. I've played with a lot of good corners and he's right up there with the best of them. He knocks the ball away, intercepts the ball, makes the quarterback pay. He's physical, good in the run game, good in zone, good in short, intermediate, deep. He's all around been a great player for us."

Gilmore and Brady were the only Patriots players selected to the Pro Bowl. The 28-year-old defensive back also made Pro Football Focus' All-Pro first team. He was PFF's highest-graded cornerback for the regular season, too.

The official NFL All-Pro teams haven't been announced yet, but Gilmore has a strong chance of landing on it.

Gilmore tallied two interceptions, 40 tackles, one sack and 20 passes defensed in 16 games for the Patriots this season. Opposing quarterbacks also had a lackluster 56.3 passer rating when targeting Gilmore.
