Brady sets aside retirement talk: ‘I'm playing next year'

MINNEAPOLIS — Not that there was much doubt, but for anyone who believed there was a chance Tom Brady would not be playing quarterback for the Patriots next season . . . don’t.

“Yeah, you’re going to see me playing football next year,” he told Jim Gray on Westwood One’s pregame show. “I don’t envision not playing. You’re at the end of the race but you’ve got your biggest mountain to climb right at the end.

“Hopefully all the lessons we’ve learned have allowed us to be at our very best for this moment and that’s what it’s going to take and that’s what we’re prepared for and that’s what I go out and expect our team to do.”

The coaching staff will look different in New England next season. The roster will, too. But the quarterback position, as Brady explained, will look as it has for the better part of the last two decades.
