Tom E. Curran names Patriots' biggest obstacle in path to Super Bowl

As the 2019 NFL season gets underway, so does the New England Patriots' quest to reach their four straight Super Bowl.

Last season, the Patriots made it to Super Bowl 53 following a hard-fought victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. It took a huge offsides penalty and overtime to get past league MVP Patrick Mahomes' squad, but New England evidently got the job done and followed by defeating the Los Angeles Rams to bring home Lombardi Trophy No. 6.

NBC Sports Boston's Patriots insider Tom E. Curran believes this year's path to the Super Bowl will be just as tough -- if not tougher -- for the Patriots as the Chiefs remain a powerhouse. On Thursday's MyTeams NFL Kickoff Show, Curran picked KC as the Pats' biggest obstacle.

"I don't think there's any doubt at all, it has to be the Kansas City Chiefs," Curran said. "New England right now offensively is going to have to find an identity to help out that defense, and I'm wondering if it gets into a game with Kansas City in the postseason, will Kansas City be able to wear that defense down if they have an improved enough defense themselves."
