Why Aaron Rodgers is excited about Tom Brady leaving Patriots for Bucs

Two of the best quarterbacks in NFL history now are in the same conference, and Aaron Rodgers is OK with that -- even if it will take some getting used to.

Joining host Chantel McCabe on the Golf Channel's "FORE-1-1" podcast Sunday, the Green Bay Packers quarterback reacted to Tom Brady's league-altering move from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency.

"I think it's definitely strange," Rodgers told McCabe. "It will be strange to not see him in a Patriot jersey.

"We played them a couple of years ago and thought that was probably the last time we’d play each other. Now, we get another chance."

Rodgers and Brady have played each other just three times -- in 2010, 2014 and 2018, with the Patriots winning two -- and the Packers aren't slated to play New England until 2022.

Rodgers was skeptical whether he or Brady would last three more NFL seasons, but the two legendary quarterbacks now will face off this season (if there is one), with Tampa Bay set to host Green Bay in 2020.

While Brady's Bucs represent another challenger in the NFC, Rodgers is glad the 42-year-old QB is still doing his thing.

"I think having him in the league is obviously great for the league and he’s a fantastic player," Rodgers added. "His career speaks for itself. Obviously, he still feels like he he has something left to prove. I don’t think he does. I think it's only to himself that he can still do it.

"What he’s done kind of setting he bar for the rest of us with his health and his work ethic and his longevity is something I think that's appreciated now and is going to be appreciated even greater when he’s done playing."

Tampa Bay and Green Bay won't meet again until after 2022, so mark your calendars this season for what should be the last meeting between the future Hall of Famers.
