The Atlanta Falcons are theĀ latest NFL team to clean house amid their disappointing 2020 season.
Head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff were among thoseĀ relieved of their duties following the team's Week 5 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Now 0-5 on the year, the Falcons must start toĀ thinkĀ long-term.Ā
Replacing Quinn and Dimitroff will be near the top of Atlanta's to-do list, and itĀ may have the perfect candidatesĀ in New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and director of player personnel Nick Caserio. In fact, if the Falcons end up with a top-four pick in next year's NFL Draft, Albert Breer of The MMQB says it'd almost a no-brainer for McDaniels and/or Caserio to take the job (video above).

"If they're drafting in the top three or four picks, then I think it could be an ideal situation," Breer said Monday on Boston Sports Tonight. "If you can get Trevor Lawrence from Clemson, I almost think you have to go because Trevor Lawrence is a generational type of prospect in the same class as Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, or John Elway were coming out [of college]. A once in a decade kind of quarterback prospect.
"So if they have the No. 1 overall pick, I think you have to go. There are a couple of other good quarterback prospects in thisĀ draft coming up: Ohio State's Justin Fields, North Dakota State's Trey Lance. If you can get one of the other two, maybe you go. I think this is all contingent on where the Falcons' draft pick is. Again, if it's the No. 1 overall pick, I think it's almost a no-brainer. That becomes the most attractive job in the market."
McDaniels has been the subject of head coaching rumors for the last several seasons, and it appears this one will be no different. Caserio was pursued by the Houston Texans last year, prompting a tampering charge from the Patriots. Now, the Texans jobs areĀ back in play for McDaniels and Caserio following the firing of Bill O'Brien.

For now though, McDaniels and Caserio will remain focused on helping the Patriots through what's been a unique season so far. New EnglandĀ is set to play its rescheduled game vs. the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
